On the 16th of January 1981, auspicious prayers were held at 3pm to herald the opening of the doors of learning to an institution that would become a respected educational institution within a few years. At the helm of the legendary institution was a Principal, Mr L.M. Naidu, who laid the visionary foundation stories of an institution which builds character and instils a great sense of pride to all those who walked through its portals
In 1981 Heather Secondary School opened with a staff of 32 and a pupil enrolment of 735 learners. It had 497 Senior Primary School pupils (Grade 6 & 7). 336 Junior Secondary pupils (Grade 8 & 9) and 53 Grade 10 pupils. In 1984 Heather Secondary was re-graded as a Complex School.
Our school's leadership were meticulous in crafting an environment where the learners of the Northdale community could strive to be the best version of themselves. It is a tradition that is etched deeply in our ethos, and one that we take very seriously!
